On behalf of JCI Hong Kong, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to welcome you to join for the first time ever JCI Hong Kong 70th Anniversary Online Celebration.
Thank you to the flexibility and creativity of the 70th Anniversary organization committee, we are still able to gather together for different innovative online celebration programs, explore opportunities to grow as individuals and create moments of connection as the way of living has been changed under COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the past 70 years, we have transformed challenges and difficulties into opportunities for enterprising young leaders. JCI Hong Kong members’ commitment to excellence and active participation in community activities, we have established ourselves as an organization with a good reputation for developing leaders for a changing world. By serving the community, we developed projects that carried practical impact and have thus developed generations of young people with leadership potential to take up important responsibilities in respective fields of endeavours in the community to further advance the JCI Values.
In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic this year, JCI Hong Kong members continue to advance and do outstanding work in local and national level, such as to build up the long-term economic relevance by developing projects that sustain and rebuild economies, by promoting professional reconversion and developing entrepreneurship skills, and supporting good mental health. JCI Hong Kong is also responsible for several programs to facilitate dialogue of SDGs and business engagement activities in first ever hybrid JCI World Congress.
As JCI members, no matter what kinds of challenges are in front of us, we are all motivated and always have positive mind to change the adversity to opportunity for the betterment of our community. Throughout past several decades, JCI Hong Kong members are there to guide the communities forward into a constantly-changing future.
I would like to thank all the Past National Presidents and Officers for all your time, your energy and your advice to push forward our beloved organization in the past 70 years.
I would take this opportunity to thank our 70th Anniversary Celebration organization committee, advisors and national and chapter officers, the volunteers and the staff who made this all possible.
I wish you all having a wonderful and memorable night and keep serving our community in our JC spirit to the next 70 years!
It is my great honour to be the Chairman of the 70th Anniversary Celebration of JCI Hong Kong.
In the past 70 years, JCIHK has developed numerous globally minded leaders with responsibilities and common goals. This group of youth has not only obtained outstanding achievement in their career and personal life, but also created positive impact to our communities, our world and our future.
2020 is a very challenging year due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We believe as an international leadership organization with over thousands of members across the world, we are uniquely capable of creating impactful change in facing challenge.
Our 70th anniversary celebration should be in full swing in May’s anniversary ball originally. We had to postpone the ball to November and eventually cancel it in September. Everything has gone back to zero. However, our OC team has never given up. I really appreciate our OC team and members of JCI Hong Kong who are embraced with new ideas, collaborations and diversities. We have kept our passing and courage to address all critical challenges over the times, especially in the second half of the year. At last, this group of young leaders has made a brand new virtual program for the 70th anniversary celebration.
Taking this opportunity, I would like to extend my gratitude to all distinguished guests, sponsors, advertisers and 21 local chapters for their support and contribution. In addition, I would like to salute to my Deputy Chairmen Senator Terry Chan, Senator Iris Lam, Senator Raymond Ng, Bowie Chiu, Karmen Chu, Ellen Chung, Gabriel Ho, Billy Kwong, Jerry Tang and Julie Yiu, and to our Organizing Committee team members for their dedication and effort to make this successful and meaningful event.
My sincere thanks also go to National President Senator Maric Cheng, Project Advisors Past National Presidents Senator Alice Liu and Senator Brian Kwan, Supervising Officer National General Legal Counsel Senator Jessica Lee for their valuable advice and guidance. Last but not least, my deepest gratitude to all Past National Presidents who have shared their successful stories of their JC path and career, which gave great inspirations to our members. Once again thank you all for your support to JCIHK. Please enjoy the show!
